[MPlayer-cygwin] Video driver question

Hello,
I have two systems that I have been running mplayer on.

  The first one is an older system and mplayer runs great. The other 
(newer) system doesn't display with nearly the resolution the older 
machine does - lots of little square blocks. This is the system that has 
S-Video output to my TV, so it's a bit annoying. The difference I see in 
the output from mplayer is that the working system is using  "Planar 
YV12" and the other is using "BGR 32-bit".

  Is there a way to force the newer system to use the same "Planar YV12" 
driver, or am I barking up the wrong tree, or ?.
