Yes!
Both "-ac mad" and "-ac ffmp2" produce a correct sound output!

Is there perhaps a way to automatically tell mplayer not to use the default 
"mp3" codec and instead "ffmp2" or "mad"?

What I moreover don't understand is why this happens with SuSE9 and not with 
SuSE 8.1/SuSE8.2...
