	OK, and in all thoroughness;
(runtime, it compiled fine)

sound card: Standard PowerMac DMA sound

Output from MPlayer. Worth saying that I've narrowed down the sound problem
a little; in the left speaker/earpiece output is a long continual pure beep,
and in the right I get a very scratchy version of the original sound.
