I wouldn't call it an error, with mplayer I've always ignored it because 
it works. It also seems (in the working case) to have nothing to do with 
-vo capabilities.

Doing some quick tests I see it when decoding mpeg2 with ffmpeg, but not 
with libmpeg2.

Looks like it's just something that gets printed during the process 
mplayer/codec uses to set things up.
