[MEncoder-users] how to test encoded file ?

Hi

I encoded with mencoder and x264 several files and can play it fine with mplayer on non vdpau computer.
 But with xbmc and vdpau I have a lot of dropped frames and I have jerky video. Nevertheless another files
 (dvd, xvid, ts mpeg2)  play fine on xbmc

How can I test my files to be sure that they encoded correctly and the problem of jerky video is not in
them.
