Hi Josef!
This is a mencoder, not mplayer list topic. And I am moving it to
mencoder list from the other where you sent it.
I hope you're reading this just fine.

BT848 should be fine. I had Hauppauge PVR-250, was fine.

This:
> mencoder -forceidx -ovc copy -oac copy capture.avi fixed.avi

has worked for me many times later on on my hardware that is similar to
BT848 based.

But this could be the reason you are not getting it right:
> while it is halted. Still bad sync.

You seem to be issuing the reindexing command while the menocder is
halted. No. That is completely useless.
mencoder needs to be running in it's own other konsole.
You need to start the "mencoder -forceidx ..." command *before* you halt it.

This procedure above is essential. Afterwards you can get even better
VHS digitizing by modifing the mencoder compilation config options, in a
post discussed briedly a few weeks agoon this or the sibling mplayer
list... Here, I was able to find it. But the above is essential, not
this below:

Hope this helps.
