[MEncoder-users] What is wrong with WMV?

Ok so I finally got everything all set up and I know there have been many posts
on this issue but among all of those I haven't found a solution for this
problem. When converting a WMV to FLV format, if I don't specify an fps the
video plays really really fast but the audio plays at normal speed. For some
strange reason, this only happens with WMV files and not MPG or AVI or anything
else. I know I can specify a framerate using -ofps and so far, using guess and
check, 15.1 seems to be the closest even though it is still off at certain parts.

Does anyone know of a possible solution to this? Why does it only happen with
WMV files?

Here is the command I am running:
mencoder ./videos/test.wmv -o ./videos/test.flv -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts
abr:br=56 -ovc lavc -lavcopts
vcodec=flv:vbitrate=500:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -srate 22050 -ofps
15.1
