[MEncoder-users] vf scale : same dimensions

I'm writing a batch script and want to know if there is any harm in 
applying vf scale to the same dimensions.

720x480 source and then vf scale=720:480

Does mencoder actually perform a change to the video information or does 
it see that it's the same size and ignore the command?
