Well, I need to backpedal a bit. The one I'm talking about[1] covers
generic mencoder usage, and doesn't go heavily into DVD ripping, since
(1) there already are a lot of docs out there and (2) some nice GUIs if
you don't want to fiddle with CLI arguments.

Either way, it doesn't seem fair if you're saying there's no
comprehensive documentation and then putting the burden on me for
finding it.

I see the DVD ripping guides split up into one of three categories:

1. They give you detailed examples without explanation
2. They give you simple examples with lots of explanation, but few options
3. They tell you which GUIs to use.

My vote is that #2 is the best approach for someone who really wants to
learn how to do it by understanding what options are being passed and
what they are doing. A noob doesn't need to know about all the
wonderful advanced options anyway, because they'll just end up shooting
themselves in the foot trying to implement them. IMO, it's much better
to start with the basics and go from there.

Steve
