Try different values of -mc, and/or try -noskip if mencoder says that
there are lots of skipped frames.

I tend not to trust MEncoder's muxing reliability myself, so I usually
use an external tool to mux and fix skip, using Avidemux, avimerge, or
mkvmerge.
