Try -of lavf -lavfopts
format=mp4:i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames

Instead of rawvideo.

I'm using mencoder to rip a dvd to the h.264 format (mp4 container for
ipod). The settings are configured for ipod, but when it encodes, the
ipod won't play video, it will only play the audio part. However, when
I rip the same DVD with Handbrake (Mac app), which is supposedly using
the same x264 codec, it works fine. The command I'm issuing is:
".\mplayer\mencoder.exe" "$(SourceFile)" -vf harddup -of rawvideo -ovc
x264 -x264encopts
qcomp=0.60:dct_decimate:bframes=3:keyint=250:keyint_min=25:qp_min=10:qp_max=
51:qp_step=2:qp_constant=26:cabac:direct_pred=1:weight_b:i4x4:i8x8:b8x8mv:8x
8mv:no4x4mv:8x8dct:mixed_refs:nobrdo:bime:fast_pskip:threads=1:frameref=1:tr
ellis=1:me=2:me_range=16:subq=6:bitrate=$(VideoBitrate)
-nosound -o "$(DestFile)"
Then, I encode the audio into AAC with Nero encoder, and mux the audio
and video together. (This all uses a front end called MediaCoder.) How
recently has the x264 codec for mencoder been updated?
Can I download the latest x264 codec and have mencoder use it, or is it
repackaged somehow?

Thanks,
A Lee
