[MEncoder-users] avi encoding runs great on one machine, fails on another; SRCHSTRNG

i couldn't find any info on mf:// in the man page.  i
found the following option, but i think that's
different.

-mf <option1:option2:...>
  Used when decoding from multiple PNG or JPEG files.


so what does mf:// mean?  why would it cause a problem
on one machine/version and not another?
