[MEncoder-users] mencoder/mplayer DVD playback problem (was mencoder fails to play a certain DVD title)

I have a DVD from a TV series box set I purchased where for some reason
the 3rd title will not play with mplayer/mencoder. I presume mplayer
and mencoder use the same code for playback? All three other titles
play back fine with mplayer and VLC and the 3rd title plays fine in VLC
0.8.4. If it would help I can also attach the VLC message output, I'm
trying not to send too large of an email. Also if it could help I can
try to copy the relevant .ifo and .vob files and put them on my server.
I guess I can just copy part of the .vob with dd as long as the
problem is still reproducible. (I decided to try this list again as I
don't know whether mplayer-users would be more appropriate or not and I
started here)

I did a Google web and Google Groups search on '"Found NAVI packet!"
mplayer' but did not find anyone with the same problem in the few
results that were displayed.

I tested with 2 different version of mplayer and 1 of mencoder. The
first version of mplayer
> MPlayer Sherpya-MinGW-20051012-4.0.2 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
gave these messages (full log attached) the last two lines keep
repeating with different numbers until I kill mplayer. The DVD drive
activity light is on the entire time. mencoder version
> MEncoder dev-CVS-051215-22:14-3.2.3 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
gave almost the exact same error messages.

The second version
> MPlayer dev-CVS-040518-18:06 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team
gave these messages (full log attached) the last 6 lines repeated for a
bunch of different formats until MPlayer gave up and exited.

Thank you,
Jonathan

P.S. Thank you Phil (Mr Ehrens?) for your honest (if blunt) responses to
my earlier messages, I (sincerely) hope this message is at least closer
to the list standards.
