Great thanks for the quick replies.  I actually thought lame could do surround (obviously I was wrong) or either that FFmpeg would downmix it automatically (I guess not the case).  If I would specify -ac 2 then it should work correct?

And yes to avoid losing my surround I will go ac3.  Thank you!
