This was definitly not meant to be either of that.

Let me reword this for 2024:
The people on the booth are predominantly male. Similarly ffmpeg-devel
is predominantly male. More gender diversity would be good.

And lets have some cute puppies and other animals on the booth as they
might attract some additional visitors.

Many things microsoft did are stupid, but not doing something just because
microsoft did it is even more stupid. If everything ms did were stupid they
