[Ffmpeg-devel] Question about encoding/decoding audio with libavcodec

Hi !
I am a beginner in this space and am trying to use libavcodec to encode video and audio. The video part I could get working, where I encode a bunch of frames into a video. Now, what I need to do is to take a audio file (say a file foo.mpg) and decode that and encode it along with the video encoding code that I have written. 

Since I am new to this, and the documentation on this stuff is not good (atleast I did not find this), I'd appreciate any sample code, other tips, pointers that anyone could give me to help me out on the audio encoding/decoding front with the video encoding.
