More likely, ubuntu applies patches to libdvdread which makes the line numbers useless.  The OP needs to install
libdvdread-dbg package and reproduce the backtrace again.  Then it will include context that will show us the position
of the failure better.

Regarding /media/cdrom0.  Ubuntu auto-mounts dvds, this is the mount point.  The OP opened this mount point instead of
the raw device. dvdcss will look up the real device for the mount point and access it directly later in the sequence of
things.
