hi did anyone explain to the hosts that we get copyright claims and abuse mails because of files we host wrongly trigger anti virus scanners? we should review those policies before accepting any offer (except vlc because they understand this already). what i mean is, currently there is an abuse mail sent to our host (and ubitux) because of some rtmpdump builds triggering antivirus. will the new host immediately shut our service down until we "fix" this? will they send us angry emails? and we have only 3h to respond? i think our host's internet provider is sometimes notified at the backbone that there is a domain hosting viruses on their network. will our new host cave into pressure based on that? theres a lot of weird stuff that goes on behind the scenes of a website host, gabuchino dealt with a lot of crap over the years, he would have some good advice.

I almost forgot replying. And i guess if i dont reply noone will feel authorative and reply anytime soon ... there are only 2 options noone had a argument against. OVH and vlc had arguments in public, hetzner (virus issue & 50euro/mo, also public) kierans box is too weak/old to host all our services but works fine for trac atm against nexcess / futurehosting.com i receved a private argument from a rtmpdump developer, as they are US based and hosting rtmpdump in the US is expected by them to be problematic. That leaves DreamHack and the Telepoint/MediaHub offer. I thus accept these 2 offers Thanks alot ! to keep everyone updated the hw for the Telepoint/MediaHub server has been ordered a week ago, there was some problem with the avalability of the CPU, so we will likely have only one CPU at first until a second is in stock No news about the DreamHack server [...] -- Michael GnuPG fingerprint: 9FF2128B147EF6730BADF133611EC787040B0FAB I know you won't believe me, but the highest form of Human Excellence is to question oneself and others. -- Socrates
