I just wanted to let it be known that RtmpDump will compile on Cygwin. Cygwin can use the MinGW gcc so its basically the same thing. Is RTMP_Write a blocking function?

Dear All, I am using librtmp library to stream live video to a media server. Sometimes, RTMP_Write is taking a long time (up to 100-500ms) to return, causing a very low frame rate. After looking into the code, I realized that RTMP_Write calls send function in Windows Socket library which can be in blocking mode. I expected RTMP_Write to return immediately after copying the data into a local buffer, which is sent out at a rate supported by the network. However, this doesn't seem to be the case. I would really appreciate if someone can answer the following question: "Does librtmp has an in-built write buffer? If so, how do we enable it? If not, are we expected to implement a local buffer outside the librtmp library?" Thanks, Sreekanth

unable to download with rtmpdump

Dear All, We are trying to download with the below mentioned URL but it is closing the session withing 10-30 sec.But when we played same url with the MPlayer it is playing fine. Using RTMP_Write() with absolute timestamps

Is it possible to use RTMP_Write() with absolute timestamps? I'm working on a program that streams a series of files on a schedule and fills in the gaps between them with a piece of filler audio. But it looks like every time a new file is sent through RTMP_Write() that the timestamps are getting reset and the media server is going crazy and complaining about timestamps jumping back in time and other issues regarding sequencing of the stream packets. (used wrong unregisters email account last time, also not sure if this is how to reply) Some corrections > Your server has paused playback (for whatever reason) true > and rtmpdump timed out waiting for data. Not to my knowledge, the slight "pause" in the packet-stream is barely a second > It sends the Pause/Unpause command to poke the server and > make it resume sending data. The Pause-command rtmpdump sends seem to be an immediate respond to the NetStream.Pause.Notify packet from the server. (that thing about "poke the server" ?) Btw, commented that specific send_pause out from the code and the stream stopped totally. The problem is that when that immediate Pause is sent by rtmpdump the server almost immediatly starts sending again but from a much earlier position It seems that Pause command contains, picks an old timestamp, I have not found the place in the code where, how and why it is set. Seems it shld be the last timestamp from the server, the one with the NetStream.Pause.Notify but it is a much older one. I have not figured out where and how in the code I cld find that "last timestamp". Have also not figured out the overall program structure, from receive packet, parse it, decode header, decode command-message,etc > Use 2.4. Don't butcher the code, a lot more thought has gone into it than > you're able to put into it. Used both original 2.3 and 2.4, same behavior. Then I debugged, butchered with V2.3 just bc I had the build, etc already set up btw, i am doing this on Windows! MSYS, Mingw, althoguh that probably no reason. Probable fix just answering the NetStream.Pause.Notify either without specifying a timestamp or the latest one?? Btw, the server claims, FMS 3,5,7,7.009 version I also found somebody else having seemingly the same problem, but had not noticed the "start of it all" in my case, the NetStream.Pause.Notify from the server (at the end of a "normally sized" packet with video-data) G

Crude fix rtmpdump repeats, "jumps" timestamps backwards

For some rtmp-servers I get downloaded files which - are much larger than expected - when played in mplayer, the video "jumps backwards" every now and then 2 solutions, - fix the jump-backwards file - butcher rtmpdump Added some code to YAMD to check that every timestamp is larger than the earlier in the packet-header. Yes, that was the problem. Added some more code - detect timestampnew < teimestampold, and set timestamp search = timestampold - in in this search-mode I "delete" the FLV-tags until the stream continues from where it "jumped backwards" THis worked, the fixed file almost "normal". plays almost perfectly, but seems I missed some frames sometimes, some "coder artifacts" OK, wireshark and finding "how and why". it was easy. I could see slight "pauses" in the stream of packets. Normally the client, rtmpdump just acks the streampackets with a 54 bit packet. But, sometimes a 84 bit "pause" packet! Looking more closely, the - rtmp-server send an onstatus and NetStream.Pause.Notify packet (after the slight "pause" in packets) - rtmpdump replies with "rtmp-pause-command" (but at what timestamp??) - server replies with an NetStream.Unpause.Notify, stream continues (from "older timestamp??) OK,OK, quick butcher-test, made a rtmpdump2.3 version with RTMP_SendPause disable int RTMP_SendPause(RTMP *r, int DoPause, int iTime){ RTMP_LogPrintf("SENDING PAUSE\n") ; return 0; } WORKED!! butbut, seems to happen only once, twice during beginning of stream, not what I excpected (without further debugging) Additionally the stream is now streamed "much slower", clear "do-nothings" every now and then, but correctly. Hi, and thanks, I can play a broadcast using the Pop-Up Player: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/43369 and with URL Snooper find the source file: rtmpt://fms.wfmu.org/vod/mp4:HC/hc120105.mp4 and player url: http://wfmu.org/flash/archive/player.swf Put it all together for rtmpdump: "C:\rtmpdump\rtmpdump.exe" -r "rtmpt://fms.wfmu.org/vod/mp4:HC/hc120105.mp4" -W "http://wfmu.org/flash/archive/player.swf" -o "O:\Broadcasts\WFMU\Faye\Hello Children\hc120105.mp4" and get the error message "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" The verbose log is here: http://snipurl.com/rtmpdumplog Could anyone offer advice? rtmpdump and SOCKS4 proxies issue

Hello. I've come across an issue when using rtmpdump with SOCKS4 proxies. 94.231.187.10:1080 94.112.3.71:1080 Both of these proxies are SOCKS4 (as confirmed via curl --socks4 option), however rtmpdump has ALWAYS a failed negotiation with the first one. |DEBUG: RTMP_Connect0 ... SOCKS negotiation |ERROR: RTMP_Connect0, SOCKS negotiation failed. Has anybody come up across a similar issue? Thanks.
