[patch] pkgconfig fixes
by Anssi Hannula 13 Aug '10

13 Aug '10

Hi! The attached patches fix two issues with the librtmp.pc file: - libdir is hardcoded to $prefix/lib, instead of real libdir - Private libs are listed in Requires/Libs instead of .private -- Anssi Hannula

Configurable Timeout Value
by tony.stark＠abilliontoinvest.com 29 Jul '10

29 Jul '10

Is there a way to configure the timeout value when capturing a live stream? Right now, if the connection to the live stream is dropped, the only way to stop rtmpdump from running is to press Ctrl-C. We're spawning rtmpdump from another app and are unable to determine if it the stream has dropped or not and rtmpdump will not end without the break being sent.

Gracefully Close on Live Stream Break

Is there a patch that will allow/force rtmpdump to close the file and exit gracefully if the break in a live stream capture lasts longer than 30 seconds?

Help getting stream parameters.
by Yansky . 24 Jul '10

24 Jul '10

The ABC iView site ( http://www.abc.net.au/iview/ ) just added a 24 hour news streaming video. This is different to it's other videos on the site as it never stops streaming (obviously). I'm having some problems figuring out how to find the right perameters to download some of the stream. Here is a copy of the command line output: http://pastebin.com/yXPG3fXt I also tried to use rtmpsuck, but I'm not sure if I have it working properly. Here is the output from rtmpsuck: http://pastebin.com/qg4KDbBR I'm unsure how to proceed. Any ideas? Cheers, Yansky.

I made the suggested changes to librtmp/Makefile, but I do not understand what changes I need to make to ./Makefile. I was able to successfully compile with just the changes to librtmp/Makefile. However, when I try to execute rtmpdump, I received the error "Referenced from: ./rtmpdump Reason:image not found". I presume this is because I didn't make the appropriate changes to ./Makefile. I looked at the original source file and there are only two streams; one audio and one video. What other reasons would explain the drastic difference in file size? You can download the original source video from http://static.playonsports.com.s3.amazonaws.com/example_expected.mp4. You can download the RTMPdump video from http://static.playonsports.com.s3.amazonaws.com/example_actual.mp4.flv. >> 3) The RTMPdump video is not seekable, however, the source video is >> seekable. > > Sounds like your player is broken. install all progs in bindir?
by Anssi Hannula 21 Jul '10

Hi! In my opinion none of the rtmp* progs are really root-user-only, yet rtmpsrv/rtmpgw/rtmpsuck are installed in /usr/sbin instead of /usr/bin. Do you disagree with me on this? Just in case you do not, attached is a patch that makes them all install into /usr/bin. -- Anssi Hannula

Discrepancies Between Dumped Video And Source Video
by Nickolaus Padgett 21 Jul '10

21 Jul '10

There appear to be several discrepancies between the video I captured with RTMPdump and the source video for me FMS server. 1) The source video is mp4, however, the RTMPdump video appears to be in a flv container. Is this correct? I read something about this here http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showpost.php?p=19224&postcount=5. 2) The source video is 74.1 MB on disk (74,139,578 bytes), however, the RTMPdump video is 36.5 MB on disk (36,457,236 bytes). Why is this? Are there elementary streams in the source video that are not being transfered from the RTMP server? 3) The RTMPdump video is not seekable, however, the source video is seekable. Below is the verbose output for my stream. Compiling RTMPdump on Max OS X
by Nickolaus Padgett 21 Jul '10

When I first tried to compile RTMPdump on Mac OS X, I received the error "-L must be immediately followed by a directory path (no space)". Please apply this fix to the Makefile. I removed the space between "-L librtmp" and now I receive the error "in librtmp/librtmp.so, can't link with bundle (MH_BUNDLE) only dylibs (MH_DYLIB)". Reading AMF Response From Non-Standard Request
by Nickolaus Padgett 20 Jul '10

Is it possible to retrieve the AMF response from librtmp when the CDN FMS returns a 403 response code? My CDN FMS returns a nonce in the AMF response which I need to retrieve to make a secondary request. You can find more detail on what I am trying to do, here: http://stream-recorder.com/forum/streaming-cdn-t7052.html. Thanks, Nick

New at RTMPDUMP
by Riaan and Ericka Jonker 19 Jul '10

19 Jul '10

Hi, there, All new at this but here goes my best shot. Trying to view Video on Demand on my XBMC and having a blast going thru the motions of putting the stuff together. Currently doing all the "Reversing" on MS Windows Operating System. Anyways, I'm having an issue with the RMTPE streams. When using the following I only get back about 10 - 20 seconds worth of video. When restarting to resume, I get another 2-3 seconds and so forth. The video is really messed up. I hope there's a better way to do this than the way I'm currently trying to do it. Help would be greateful --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *C:\>rtmpdump.exe -r "rtmpe:// fms-streaming.tvnz.co.nz/tvnz.co.nz/2010/vampirediaries_s1_e4_part5_700k" -n "fms-streaming.tvnz.co.nz" -l 2 -a "tvnz.co.nz" -y "/2010/vampirediaries_s1_e4_part5_700k" --buffer 56684 -p " http://tvnz.co.nz/the-vampire-diaries/vampire-diaries-s1-e4-video-3646336" --conn S:"-720" -V -e --skip 10 -o "C:\temp\TADA.flv"* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Verbose Output: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RTMPDump v2.3 (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu, The Flvstreamer Team; license: GPL DEBUG: Number of skipped key frames for resume: 10 DEBUG: Protocol : RTMPE DEBUG: Hostname : fms-streaming.tvnz.co.nz DEBUG: Port : 1935 DEBUG: Playpath : /2010/vampirediaries_s1_e4_part5_700k DEBUG: tcUrl : rtmpe://fms-streaming.tvnz.co.nz:1935/tvnz.co.nz DEBUG: pageUrl : http://tvnz.co.nz/the-vampire-diaries/vampire-diaries-s1-e4-video-3646336 DEBUG: app : tvnz.co.nz DEBUG: live : no DEBUG: timeout : 30 sec DEBUG: Setting buffer time to: 56684ms Connecting ... Stream plays like Fast Forvarding in beginning
by Vaidas Velutis 09 Jul '10

Hello, i have this stream: http://hwcdn.net/y5s5i2w8/fls/236848-TDKTV.smil(this url gives RTMP stream params), so i am downloading stream with rtmpdump 2.3 using this command line: rtmpdump.exe -r "rtmp:// fms055.am4.hwcdn.net/y5s5i2w8/_definst_/fls/236848-TDKTV?doppl=0545b65f4973…" -v -V -o "tdk.flv" everything seems ok, it is downloading well, but when i watch downloaded stream first seconds (about 4 - 6 second from beginning) is playing like it is fast forwarding. Can this be fixed, or maybe someone can explain why this is happening?

[PATCH] building darwin shared lib
by Scott D. Davilla 07 Jul '10

07 Jul '10

As promised, build fixes for darwin platform. Darwin supports two types of shared libs, bundles (similar to Linux .so files) and dylibs. The main difference is bundles can be unloaded, dylibs cannot, so we build librtmp as a bundle so we can unload it. Note that in the lib Makefile, darwin needs XLDFLAGS ref'ed as also on darwin, we can build against various SDKs (10.4/10.5/10.6). This would get set via some external Makefile for building on a newer OSX version to be runtime compatible under an older OSX. See http://trac.xbmc.org/browser/trunk/lib/librtmp/Makefile for how we use it to build librtmp for XBMC for Mac. diff -uNrp librtmp-org/Makefile librtmp-mod/Makefile --- librtmp-org/Makefile 2010-07-01 08:00:43.000000000 -0400 +++ librtmp-mod/Makefile 2010-07-07 15:43:03.000000000 -0400 @@ -34,10 +34,12 @@ MANDIR=$(DESTDIR)$(mandir) LIBS_posix= LIBS_mingw=-lws2_32 -lwinmm -lgdi32 +LIBS_darwin= LIBS=$(CRYPTO_LIB) $(LIBS_$(SYS)) $(XLIBS) THREADLIB_posix=-lpthread THREADLIB_mingw= +THREADLIB_darwin=-lpthread THREADLIB=$(THREADLIB_$(SYS)) SLIBS=$(THREADLIB) $(LIBS) @@ -46,6 +48,7 @@ INCRTMP=librtmp/rtmp_sys.h librtmp/rtmp. by Slava Markeyev 07 Jul '10

Hello everyone, this is my first time on the list and I have a question regarding the subscribe option in rtmpdump/librtmp. I'm trying to pull a live feed from the edgecast CDN which now uses FCSubscribe. I've been going through packet dumps with wireshark looking at the differences between a regular flash player when it pulls a feed from the CDN and when rtmpdump does it. It seems that the flash player issues FCsubscribe and then the createStream while rtmpdump/librtmp issues createStream first then FCsubscribe. I'm not sure if this is the source of the problem but the end result with rtmpdump is that I get a response back that the stream is not found. Is there an a problem with my command arguments or is there a problem with compatibility? Also I've noticed that rtmpdump does not allow me to set a playpath without the actual stream which should be actually taken from the subscribe parameter instead. I've included my command arguments and partial packet dumps from both rtmpdump and flash player. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. PS I'm running rtmpdump v2.3 if that helps. rtmpdump --debug 100 -r rtmp://fml.2010.edgecastcdn.net/202010 --tcUrl rtmp://fml.2010.edgecastcdn.net/202010 --subscribe mp4:stlava_116.f4v -o flvtest.flv Using rtmpdump ---------------------------------------------------------- TO: ...............connect.?..........app...202010..flashVer...LNX 10,0,32,18..tcUrl..&rtmp:// fml.2010.edgecastcdn.net/202010..fpad....capabilit.ies.@.........audioCodec…....... videoFunction.?.......... Hello. Can you check please this link, that I can't download rtmpe://cp10740.edgefcs.net/ondemand/mtvcomstor/_!/mtv.com/onair/is_she_rea… I'm always get "Download may be incomplete (downloaded about 40.00%), try resuming" but resume is not possible. :( Best regards, Oleg.

Launchpad PPA

We (XBMC) are working on the best way for packaging librtmp, and ideally we could just have our users install from the PPA [1], though it seems to be unmaintained. Also, I see that it is packaged for Maverick [2], though this does little to help most current users. Are there plans to get this going again and begin hosting updated packages? If not, the alternative would be to host them ourselves, though that's obviously not optimal. [1]: https://launchpad.net/rtmpdump [2]: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+package/rtmpdump Cory
