hmm. if they're "aware" of the issue now, do you think they'd be amenable to publishing a xiph-sanctioned spec for how to store vorbis in non-ogg containers. preferably using either the existing mkv format or the pure concatenation which you demonstrated is possible. (these two formats only differ by the existence of a few bytes of junk at the beginning of the former.
well, ill subscribe & ask on vorbis-dev unless there are other ideas or some more diplomatic volunteer for it
imo you're a good spokesperson. i don't think they like me very much these days... :) and you're well-respected for technical competence and as one of the main developers of ffmpeg (albeit a project which xiph doesn't much respect). rich
