Another part is a FS problem since fat32 does not like big files I would recommend reformatting to Reiserfs or even ext2 if your kernel doesn't have support for journalized fs and you don't want to recompile your kernel
At least the Reiser version I am using does not handle large files. Ext2 does.
reiser has supported large files for QUITE a long time.... what kernel are you using?
