Does mplayer (or anything) support divx using linux?
Yes, of course. Did you read the web page at all? :)
He means the propriatary "Pay per view" DVD format called DIVX. http://www.cedmagic.com/history/rca-divx-ps8680z.html I don't think that one is supported by mplayer, is it?
Oh, he should have put that in the message; I didn't even read the subject... Anyway, it's possible that mplayer does support this format, or that it could with some minor changes to lavc. IIRC, this "divx" was also an mpeg4 variant.
AFAIR this was just a DVD mutation supporting pay-per-view for rentals. I.e. you can rent it and watch it once within 24 hours and after that it becomes garbage.
no, the dvd player had a modem on the back. so when you played the dvd it would call the server, charge your credit card, then get the key from the server to play the dvd -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
