5.1 DTS conversion to 6 mono wav files
Hi, I'm interested in converting a DTS wav file into 6 mono PCM wav files. Is this possible using mplayer? I have tried the following (where test.wav is the generated PCM file and 01.wav is the DTS wav file) mplayer -ao pcm:file=test.wav 01.wav However, the result is a stereo wav file. 1. Does mplayer take it upon itself to mix the 6 channels into two? 2. Also, does it do anything to prevent clipping while mixing the channels? 3. Ultimately, is there any way to get 6 discrete PCM files as output? Thanks very much for your help.

Yes. See "-af pan" in the docs.

Mix? No. It only plays the two main channels, because you didn't request otherwise...

I thought MPlayer's DTS support was broken in that it always downmixes DTS to 2.0 when not using passthrough. Has this finally been fixed?
This is what it seems to be doing. Using -pan as previously suggested, I can only get material out of the first 2 channels. The question is, does it just take the first 2 channels or is each stereo channel a mixture of a couple of the 5.1 channels. If they have fixed DTS without passthrough, that would be cool. You may well be correct. I wasn't considering possible bugs...
