playing from hard drive

      Is there a way to get mplayer to play dvd files from a hard drive? I know about
the -dvdkey option, but it doesn't actually play the files as though they were
a dvd. It mucks up the transition between vob files.

Also, why does using "-ovc copy -oac copy" on a vob convert the mpeg stream to
avi? Is there any way to just extract the mpeg without changing formats?
