I'm still trying to debug my video playback performance problems since changing to rh8.0, since TFM hasn't helped. I just ran x11perf to see if anything had changed. Turns out most of the results are 40-60% of what they were in rh7.1. I'm fairly stunned. I don't know yet what is causing this dramatic decrease. I tried dropping in the xf86 4.1.0 module for my video card (G400), but that had no effect. Maybe it's the core X server in 4.2.0. Hard to believe they would botch the performance that badly. The kernels are both 2.4.18, so it seems unlikely the kernel is at fault. What else would affect x11perf results? glibc? b.c.
