disappearing subtitles at dvd chapter intervals
bug: dvd subtitles at chapter intervals will not appear description: with subtitles on, some dvd subtitles will not be displayed at chapter intervals. rewinding into the time period where they would otherwise be will often cause them to be seen, but a normal play-through will result in not ever seeing them. This bug is visible using the latest cvs build; MPlayer-20030306. example: just pop in a very common dvd, Miramax Films' Princess Mononoke R1 ntsc. using the command line mplayer -alang ja -sid 1 -dvdangle 2 dvd:// whenever play reaches the end of a chapter (or the very beginning of the next, perhaps) any subtitle occuring at that time will not show up on the screen. operating system: Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (Woody) Linux hpbox 2.4.20 #8 Mon Feb 10 10:57:33 EST 2003 i686 unknown ls -l /lib/libc[.-]* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1153784 Sep 18 05:40 /lib/libc-2.2.5.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Jan 10 23:04 /lib/libc.so.6 -> libc-2.2.5.so XFree86 Version 4.1.0.1 / X Window System gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease) GNU ld version 2.12.90.0.1 20020307 Debian/GNU Linux GNU assembler 2.12.90.0.1 20020307 Debian/GNU Linux MPlayer 0.90rc4-2.95.4 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS) mplayer configured with default options; "./configure" (this is a cleaned up posting of an earlier bug report, with additional and more accurate info, and tested against the latest cvs build as well. forgive the dup) -- robh

Can you try Revision 1.39 of spudec.c? http://www.mplayerhq.hu/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/main/spudec.c?rev=1.39&content-type=text/plain I don't think my patch should cause this, but it would be nice to make sure. :-) Also I'll try and check if I can reproduce this with the Region2 version of Mononoke... -- Tobias PGP: 0x9AC7E0BC This mail is made of 100% recycled bits np: watanabemisato: Sweet 15th Diamond 04 - sama^taimu buru^su

Hmm, I did not see anything unusual. Note that after a seek it is normal for some subtitles to be missing for a second or so because they are encoded in the stream in advance. However at chapter boundaries nothing special should be happening. -- Tobias PGP: 0x9AC7E0BC This mail is made of 100% recycled bits np: watanabemisato: Sweet 15th Diamond 11 - anatanozenbu

that spudec.c didn't want to compile into the current cvs snapshots for some reason, but it compiled fine into 0.90rc4, so I tested it with that. No change, unfortunately.

Yep, it's during normal play, and not right after seeking. Subtitles will be appearing normally right up to the point where the chapter boundary is, and the one subtitle that would appear then does not. I still haven't determinted if the non-appearing subtitle is encoded into the stream of the earlier or later chapter. If there's any output that you want me to generate that may assist, I will certainly do so.
