I'm having a trouble with this: mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile _40386563_mol.rm \\ pnm://rm.bbc.net.uk/news/media/audio/40386000/rm/_40386563_mol.rm (version 1.0pre6) both linux and win32 What happens is that the stream downloads until the very end, when it hangs for a minute or two, then .... input_pnm: read error .... scrolls past, occasionally with a percentage. The save file then grows rapidly without limit until the file system is full. Using mplayer -ao pcm -aofile .... etc shows exactly the same behaviour. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Michael

Sorry to reply to my own thread, but no one seems to have picked up on this: has nobody else seen this before? I hope I have provided enough info: I can do more digging if not, but I need to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks, Michael

It's a known problem, there is no working eof detection for pnm streams, and no known way to detect eof (see also bug #209 in our bugzilla) Ciao, Roberto
