I have a very poor performance with "-vo vesa" with my ati radeon tvout (32mb SDR), any news about tvout support with ati video cards ? I have 4.2.1 xfree86 installed and latest (non CVS) mplayer.

The comman line i generally use is:

mplayer -pp 0x7f -vo vesa -fs filmname.avi

have you tried -vo vesa:vidix (requires super-user privileges) this should be faster
