Well, I guess you are going to have to use -ao pcm/mpegpes and -vo mpegpes/yuv4mpeg, then re-encode if you want to use -edl.
I was looking on the avidemux site and found that it can do what I want but first I need to get the recordings to be completely DVD compliant
