I wanted to get a noise-free streaming client into my living room and this was by far the cheapest type of hardware that I could get. I am now thinking about cancelling my order and setting up my own machine albeit the fact that this would be more expensive.
Hints, tips or comments about this? Thanks for you suggestions,
I use a Apple G4 Cube with a Seagate Barracuda HD as a silent media player. No fans -> as noise-free as it gets. Together with Gentoo Linux and MPlayer it's a good solution IMHO. However, three drawbacks: 1. Discontinued. You need to get a used machine. 2. No TV-out. But you can probably replace the VGA-Card. 3. CPU sometimes too weak to play DVD:s (450 mhz version). Upgrade? I've had my Cube in my living room for one year now. I'm very pleased. But it's not really a plug and play solution if that is what you want... / magnus
