Thanks for the info, but I think if this is really a bug then it should be fixed (eg. see if the WIN DLL is present and the file is of a certain type (troublesome files) then switch to the DLL instead of the native. Anyway the playback in my case was completely ok, it is just that at the end of the stream mplayer freezes and does not exit so I think the fix must not be that hard. Anyway Corey reported that he is using CVS and he does not experience problems with the example stream I posted. I will try out CVS and see if that cures the problem. Just for curiousity: Corey have you installed the latest win32 codecs ? (I have the latest win32 + QT codecs, installed a few days ago) cheers, Benno http://www.linuxdesktop.it Linux sul tuo Desktop Quoting Andreas <andreas@conectiva.com.br>:

I tried to play some WMV files thorugh mms:// and it works fine except that mplayer stalls when the video ends.
There is a workaround for this. I don't remember exactly, but only the DLL (windows) codec can play these files correctly, and mplayer defaults to the non-DLL codec, which can't play the file.
Search the archives, you can workaround this specifying the DLL codec manually with a -afm command-line option, I just don't have it with me right now...
