Is there a way to combine the contents of multiple CDs of a movie into a single entity to avoid changing CDs.
If you have 2 Drives (maybe a DVD and a CD-Recorder like me), you can do some sequential playing (here with VCDs, Fullscreen, 1st disc in DVD, 2nd in CDR):
film@garrett:~$ mplayer -vcd 1 -fs ; mplayer -vcd 1 fs -cdrom-device /dev/scd0
On my computer, between the two discs there is about 500msec pause, hardly noticeable. You can even extend this method to >2 discs, you just have to put the 3rd disc in the DVD drive while the 2nd is playing...
One option would be to combine them into a big iso file to be stored on a harddisk rather than an actual CD.
Huh, AFAIK mencoder can't join videos, maybe avidemux can help. If mencoder can do it after all, someone hit me now please *g* One way or another, IMHO joining to harddisk every multi-CD-movie I'd like to watch would be more painful than getting up to change CDs during the movie...
See http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/encoding.html#fixing (and the section below that) and yes, it works just fine (if same type of video/audio, etc) James L
