I would like very much to record tv programs using mencoder, but it also does not support the PALM norm, and the posted patch does not seem to address it. Could anybody add support for the PALM norm to mencoder?

MEncoder and MPleyer share the same v4l backend. Have you tried the patched mencoder at all? -- Jindrich Makovicka
