why are people using vqmin=1?? Does it really improve?
Boh? If it does, well. If not, amen. At least I hope it doesn't degrade it.
Are you sure you know what you are doing? I just *heard* it pumps up the size (but how, if you specify bitrate?) but no info in any docs. I heard it reduces quality/size ratio, but I havent confirmed it.
Otherwise, why quantizers are 3-15 by default and not 1-31? Can someone comment, please?

Hi, I don't know why, but there is a typo somewhere. From mplayer.1 vqmin=<2-31> default 3 vqmax=<1-31> default 15 Form tech/libavc-options.txt vqmin 2-31 ... .... 2 is recommended for normal mpeg4/mpeg1video encoding (default) vqmax 1-31 (maximum quantizer) for pass1/2 31 default -- Martín Pavón martin_199ar@yahoo.com.ar http://mate.dm.uba.ar/~mpavon/
