there's still the chance that your tuner is not supported at all; first of all you should identify the tuner model (usually labelled under the sticker)
The top of the rf tuner section was "conveniently" completely covered by a sticker that just said "Zoltrix TV-Max" in big letters. After I carefully peeled that off, there was a sticker underneath with a bunch of numbers, but I'm not sure what they mean: Front end 4032 FY5 Temic 3X7 004 AI.RF 9834 AI.IF 45 FT 03 LOT 4E FVI 90 Then I pulled off the top of the shielding (it just clips on) to see what was inside. The main chip is a Phillips TDA9800T with two other codes on it, 448720 and DnD981803Y. There's something in epoxy (a crystal, maybe) that says M1963M. There's something in a metal case that says 4.00C84. The board is labeled 4780A.02 and 917765. There are a couple of smaller chips that are hard to read. I don't know if any of this means anything to you (or to anyone else here).
Do you think loading the bt878 module with the card=15 option would help? Is it possible that there is sufficient compatibility between them for it to work?
card is a parameter for bttv, as you correctly pointed out
Okay, thanks. Is it possible that some other value of card= might work?
Any other possibilities you can suggest?
try asking to video4linux mailing list. some other user may have a card like yours working
Okay, I'll give that a try if we don't get it worked out. Thanks.
