http://mag.irk.ru/msu_frc/animation.swf is a beautiful example of what one can achieve with decent motion interpolation.
It's also a pretty trivial example; I play with motion interpolation quite frequently, and it tends to fail quite badly on certain artifacts. It really only works well when you can manually guide problem areas, and that isn't really doable for a feature film.
Except for the odd highly complex parallax case, my 100Hz television disagrees with you. Greg
