I downgraded libdvdcss-1.0.1 to 0.0.3 and recompiled cvs, same exact error. a52: CRC check failed! AC3: 2.0 (channel) 48000 Hz 32.0 kbit/s a52: error at resampling a52: CRC check failed! It looks to me that this has to do with the audio, or perhaps with the dvd. On Sat, 16 Mar 2002, Silviu D Minut wrote:
[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html] Darn, that's right, I do have libdvdcss-1.0.1 and the docs do say to use libdvdcss-0.0.3 and not 1.0!
I don't understand how it works with mplayer-0.6 though. Thanks for the tip.
Make sure you haven't linked mplayer with libdvdcss 1.0.0. This is exactly what happens if you have libdvdcss 1.0.0 lying around...

Playing "Moulin Rouge" with mplayer-0.6 works without a hitch. I used this command:
mplayer -dvd 1
Playing it with CVS mplayer, at the very beginning, a green frame flashes by, then the movie plays, but plays with interruptions, and I get the message below:

Since the dvd can be read flawleslly with 0.6, I don't believe any of the above possible reasons. Should I file out a complete bug report? Any other reasons? Briefly, the system is a RedHat 7.0 heavily upgraded, kernel 2.4.4, P3 866MHz, ATI r128 16M memory, 256 M ram. Both 0.6 and CVS versions were compiled with gcc-3.1. Say what you will, but 0.6 works (while CVS complains and plays with interruptions).
Mencoder:
I encoded the same dvd in one piece with mencoder-0.6 and again worked fine, except that the avi came out too big, and I wanted to use the CVS then, to be able to specify -chapter 1-17 first, then -chapter 18-36.
So I encoded 1-17 (with CVS), no problems. However, here's what happens with -chapter 18-36:
88) silviu:/opt3/dvd/mr2> /opt2/DVD/MPLAY/MPlayer-20020312/mencoder -dvd 1 -chapter 18-36 -divx4opts br=1100 -o movie.avi -pass 1
first the usual libdvdread stuff, then

then no sound when I play it. I also tried a 3-pass encoding and again no sound. I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's a bug, or if it's something with the dvd. Any suggestions?
