I have no such problems with ogle 0.8.2 and xine 0.9.8 !

I get this messages:

-> mplayer -vo dxr3 -ao oss -dvd 1 -chapter 9 /dev/dvd

You forgot -vc mpegpes so you are playing the dvd in software.
