This is almost certainly the issue which that patch is intended to fix. It can take anywhere from a few hours to several days before someone with commit access applies the patch, but in the meantime, it shouldn't be hard to apply it locally yourself. Linker error with current git version of ffmpeg in mplayer

Hi, I was testing an up to date (against development source) newly built gcc (experimental) version by compiling mplayer and the link step failed (see below). I tried the "out of the box" Fedora 30 x86_64 (rawhide) version of gcc (gcc-8.2.1-3.fc30.x86_64) and the link failed as well. Has anyone seen this problem? Am I doing something wrong perhaps? Could it be mplayer? I have a full build log if that's needed. When I listen to a stream I capture it with streamripper and listen to the captured file with mplayer. mplayer never updates the size of the file. When I change the position, if it's past the size of the file when I started mplayer, mplayer quits. This isn't a terrible problem, I just have to restart, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to. less has a -f switch that causes it to refresh the size of the target file continuously.

When I re-start I get the promotional message most streams prepend and I miss the content that happened after the portion to which I didn't want to listen until the re-start completes. I have a file that I first acquired in 2006 called kosovo.wmv. At that time, mplayer would play the sound with no trouble but it seems that no matter what I set in ~/.mplayer/config, there is no audio. An example of the messages from mplayer follows: $mplayer -quiet ~/videos/kosovo.wmv MPlayer 1.3.0 (Debian), built with gcc-6.2.1 (C) 2000-2016 MPlayer Team Playing /home/martin/videos/kosovo.wmv. libavformat version 57.56.101 (external) Mismatching header version 57.56.100 ASF file format detected. When run without the -quiet flag, it prints the progress indicator and that indicator stops counting when one presses the Space bar and resumes counting on the next press but that's all. The -quiet session using ao=oss produces the following: $ mplayer -quiet ~/videos/kosovo.wmv MPlayer 1.3.0 (Debian), built with gcc-6.2.1 (C) 2000-2016 MPlayer Team Playing /home/martin/videos/kosovo.wmv. libavformat version 57.56.101 (external) Mismatching header version 57.56.100 ASF file format detected. (Quit) The exit occurred after typing q. ao=oss seems to cause it to attempt to play nothing forever but the alsa driver causes the attempt to play to last about as long as a proper play of that video should run. Any constructive suggestions are welcome. The file in question is listed on youtube. It is a good test file to see if one can play the sound from an older .wmv file and, so far, one can't although it used to play with no issues. Martin McCormick WB5AGZ

Mplayer -wid option

Hi I am sure the answer to this is buried deep in the archives, but I have no idea how to search these if you don't know when they were posted! I am looking fora detailed guide on how to use the -wid option, the documentation seems delightfully vague. It refers to filling a previously created frame, which is what I want to do, but what is the syntax, and how is it linked to the particular frame? Thanks

Dumpstream with French Characters in folder path fails

I am having an issue where if I use -dumpstream -dumpfile 'filename' where filename has french characters in the *folder path* then mplayer fails with a message "Cannot open dump file". If there are no french characters in the folder name then it works fine. If there are french characters in the file name but not the folder path then it works fine. IE //This works -dumpfile "C:\Levis\test.mpg" //This fails with Cannot open Dump File -dumptfile "C:\Lévis\test.mpg" //This works -dumptfile "C:\Levis\ Lévis.mpg" In tests above all folder paths already exist. Any ideas?
