Sound/A-V sync problem

Hi.. I have many VCDs, SVCDs, mpg-files, too big AVIs, etc. and I use the three-pass method to make smaller divx files. At the most files I have a little unsync between sound and movie. Often I take only care if I take attention of it. But now I have to files where it is 150-200ms. I've ask google to help me, but I found only transcode and avi_sync, but no one can work with the dynamic mp3audio. What can I do ? Problem with playlist and fullscreen

The problem is that mplayer doesn't play several video files correctly in fullscreen mode. For second video file, mplayer displays either black screen (Linux, XV backend) or black window (Windows XP, directx). Sound is played normally; toggling fullscreen restores normal video playback. I'm using mplayer 1.0pre3; I've seen similar feedback on 1.0pre2 (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mplayer.user/22900/) but no couldn't find fix or workaround. -- With regards, Roman.

Vo X11 problem??

I am suffering with a little problem about video out... When I use -vo xv it is all ok, but when I use -vo x11, the picture will start braking in fast scenes or motion.. It is not braking into pixels, but the picture will get in some place broken - something like if you would bend over a paper and than make it straight and there you will see the line where you had bended it.. mencoder and hardware players

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a hardware DVD player and noticed that many will play divx. One in particular I am looking at below will play mpeg4 or so it says. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=10986 Does anyone know if there are any compatability issues with mencoder encoded avis using libavcodec. Will a hardware type player support the aspect ratio which mencoder puts into the avi. Would any special mencoder options like keyint be necessary to get proper hardware playback. Also, what type of container format would these things generally expect for an mpeg/4 stream. Would it be a m4v or would .avi be sufficient? Best regards, Shane

Resizing video frame with mplayer for SVCD

Hello. I want to know how to properly resize a movie for SVCD with mplayer. I have tried the expand and scale filters, but I did not get the expected result. The movie is an AVI with frame size 800x344. The logic I logic I am following is this: 1) First add top and bottom black borders to bring the frame size to a 4:3 aspect ratio -vf expand=:600 2) Then scale to 480x480 -vf scale=480:480 3) And set the aspect ratio to 4:3 -aspect 4:3 But this procedure is not working. The resulting video gets completelly borked. Converting 512:272 to 480:480 with aspect=4/3?

Need advise hoe to expand/scale/crop an avi clip of size 512x272 to an mpeg2(SVCD) clip of size 480:480 expanded to 640:480 when displayed. -vf expand=480:480 aspect=4/3 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:aspect=4/3 gives an image of size 512:480 scaled to 640:480 when displayed, i.e. the aspect ratio is not correct (compressed faces) -vf expand=480:480,scale=640:480:aspect=4/3 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:aspect=4/3 which should be somewhat correct I believe but this just gives a flickering image. Putting scale before expand gives images displayable but with an aspect ratio wrong in the other direction (long faces). The problem is: Expand=480:480 ============== x: 512->480 = shrink: expand does not scale down, 512 is kept. y: 272->480 = expand: OK The resulting image is of size 512:480->640:480 when displayed, i.e. aspect ratio is wrong. Scale=480:480 ============= x: 512->480 = shrink y: 272->480 = expand The result is that the aspect ratio is destroyed. Expand=640:480 and scale=640:480 also gives wrong results since the aspect ratio comes into play then displayed. Transcode handles this situation differently. How to do this correctly with mplayer and mencoder?

Telecine reversal with jpegs

Hello, When I play a DVD using: mplayer dvd://1 -chapter 18-18 I can see the interlaced frames. If I use: mplayer dvd://1 -chapter 18-18 -vf detc the movie looks slightly choppy but otherwise fine (no interlacing). Similarly, when I do: mplayer dvd://1 -chapter 18-18 -vo jpeg I get a bunch of jpegs, some interlaced, as expected. But if I try: mplayer dvd://1 -chapter 18-18 -vo jpeg -vf detc Then: Starting playback... VDec: vo config request - 720 x 480 (preferred csp: Planar YV12) Could not find matching colorspace - retrying with -vf scale... Opening video filter: [scale] The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec. FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vf) or video output (-vo). Can I get rid of interlacing this way or do I just dump the jpegs and write a script to somehow eliminate the interlaced frames...? Cheers, -- marco
