100% cpu load when trying to play mss stream

Hello MPlayer developers, When trying to play http://www.omroep.nl/radio3/live64.asx, mplayer uses 100% CPU and does not play anyting. The same happens when I access mms://media2.omroep.nl:1755/radio3live-64 directly. [BUG] libdha/Makefile install does not use $(LIBDIR)

Hi, I think there is a bug in libdha/Makefile (all versions up to the latest 1.19): libdha is installed in $(prefix)/lib, although I expected it to be installed in $(LIBDIR). I am installing mplayer (in a multi-os environment, as a normal user) in my home dir, using: $ configure --prefix=~/local --bindir=~/local/linux/bin \ --libdir=~/local/linux/lib --with-win32libdir=~/local/win32 After changing all occurences of $(prefix)/lib to $(LIBDIR) libdha is installed as was expected (with ldconfig error message: ldconfig: Can't create temporary cache file /etc/ld.so.cache~: Permission denied) Greetings, R.Eggermont -- Robbert Eggermont Computer Engineering R.Eggermont(a)ITS.TUDelft.nl Information Technology and Systems Delft University of Technology

RC4 in FreeBSD

The RC4 works well and compile well in FreeBSD 4.7, with nvida drivers, but the have some problems, the f key dont Works with the gui. When swith to fullscreen with the button of the GUI, the screen have a flicker with a color blue in the background. Other problems, not only of the RC4, is the quick time movies, mplayer play it but with poor quality, there is any change to fix this problem.

performance vs. wm, or gnome?

Continuing my search for video performance problems in rh8.0, I just found that if I create a minimal .xinitrc with an xterm and sawfish, I can play back full frame rate dvd with mplayer or gmplayer. Anyone know how metacity, nautilus, gnome-session, etc., might be affecting this? The machine is still struggling more than it should, but at least it's basically working. I also tried running the xf86 4.1.0 server from rh7.1 to see if that had any effect, and ran x11perf against it. Notably, the 4.1.0 server (rh7.1 binaries) running on rh8.0 scores the same as the 4.2.0 server -- significantly slower than the same server running on rh7.1. So something else has changed to cause the slow-down. glibc? b.c.

Dolby Headphones

Hello, I've read around the web about Dolby Headphones and i thought that using OpenAL, liba52 and a soundcard like Creative's Live one could use 3D positional audio to simulate the 5.1 speakers. What do you guys think ? is it doable ? has anyone tried or would like to try to code something like this ? I don't have the time but i'd be more than happy to helt with testing :) /kat

Feature request: different DISPLAYs for video output and GUI

Hello all. There is a little feature I would love to see in mplayer: the possibility to have the video output on one DISPLAY and the GUI on another. That's because I have one X-Server with two screens (:0.0 and :0.1). The second of those is connected to my TV. I would like to watch videos on TV and have the GUI on my desktop. Thanks for the great software!

mencoder not installing with cvs (+1 hour)

First time this has happened Is this part of the tree clean-up? I wanted to get rc4 without downloading the tarball. So I thought I could get it with my usual cvs command line "cvs -z3 update -dP". Could somebody provide the cvs command to get rc4?

Decoding TV

Hi, I'm using mplayer/mencoder to look and record films from TV. Althought the final quality is not outstanding, it is acceptable. The biggest problem being some "indefinitions" and "mouvements" with colors, but it can be somewhat arranged trough the use of noise chroma filter. Now the question is related to recording from some scrambled channels, as Canal+ in Spain. Using "taztv" I am able to see this channel very well with good sound and nice image. Anyone knows if this is possible (or will be) with MPlayer? The other point related to this one is, Anyone knows how to record with mencoder the signal created by "taztv"? Any hint will be welcome.
