Hi, anyone know how to disable "subtitles overlapping"? i'm not sure it's really called "overlapping", anyway, subtitles are scrolling :) thanks in advance, gahan

Hi! I'm using now MPlayer-pre10, and documentation seem to be not up-to-date with the new feature of this release - overlapping subtitles. I've read man and html DOC's twice, and cannot find any information about this. My question is: how can I turn off overlapping, and use MPlayer with "old-fashioned" style subtitles display(like in pre9 for instance)? Lis9

missing audio under win98 with mencoder encoded files

i encoded some mpeg videos to divx using mencoder with libavcodec mpeg4 encoding for the video stream and streamcopy for the audio stream: mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopts=mpeg4 -oac copy -o movie.avi movie.mpg the avi plays back perfectly in linux, using either mplayer or xine but under windows, any media player (wmp, divx playa, sasami) can't play the audio stream. what is the problem? do i have to encode it in multiple passes? (takes a hell of a lot of time on my system :( as an aside.. how do i copy a vcd directly to a file. something like mencoder -vcd 2 -ovc copy -oac copy -o movie.dat copies the VCD to disk but without an index. i have to use -forceidx everytime to play it. also, i have to know which/how many tracks are present on the VCD (for the -vcd x) any better way to do this?? thanx Antrix Angler

sound sync problem with Pixar movies

I folks, Has anybody run into a sound synchronization problem with Pixar movies (on a laptop) ? I use mplayer on both a desktop (athlon XP 1700+, matrox G450) and a IBM thinkpad T21 (800 MHZ PENTIUM III), both running SuSE 7.3 with 2.4.18 kernel). I don't have any problem on the desktop. On the laptop, the sound is noticeably off with "A Bugs Life" and "Monster Inc", both from Pixar. I don't have that problem with "Schrek", or "Harry Potter" so I'm thinking somehow there must be something different with Pixar movies. Any idea ? thanks, bruno.

Hi, I'm using mencoder for dvd ripping and I'd like a new feature I think I'm not able to code. I'd like to tell mencoder the size of the final avi file as a command line option during the first pass of a 3 pass encoding. Is it possible or is it too difficult to achieve? Thank you, VanLeer

Same Problem - No solution

Hi, I still have the problem when I want to make a divx from dvd files ripped to my harddisk. There is no problem if I try to do this from an ext2 partition,but if I try the same in a vfat partition or in a ntfs partition,I receive a segmentation fault error. A friend of mine tried the same in his system without problems...I think the problem could be in the way that I have my system partitioned. Can you help me please? Thanks a lot. PS: there is no problem if i try to make the divx from the dvd device. Carlos Javier Igal

Hi, ok, too many people asked me about how to get teh qt dlls (for svq3 video, qdmc/qdm2 audio etc) working. so, i put together a quick howto, can be found in CVS DOCS/tech/qt-libwine-howto.txt but here is it included: How to get win32 quicktime audio/video codec plugins support work? ================================================================== 1. Get the latest wine source. Some leech urls: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/ALPHA/wine/development/Wine-20021031.tar.gz ftp://ftp.infomagic.com/pub/mirrors/linux/sunsite/ALPHA/wine/development/Wi… ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/unix/linux/mirrors/sunsite.unc.edu/ALPHA/wine/develo… ftp://orcus.progsoc.uts.edu.au/pub/Wine/development/Wine-20021031.tar.gz Compile and install it: ./configure make make install 2. Get mplayer CVS (RTFM...) (today snapshot is too old for this), and compile this way: ./configure --disable-win32 (--disable-win32 is VERY important) add '#define USE_QTX_CODECS' to config.h and run: make mplayer.exe.so 3. Get the quicktime DLLs & wine config pack: [ftp|http]://mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/qt-dotwine.tar.bz2 If you already have ~/.wine, backup it: mv ~/.wine ~/.wine.orig Extract the tarball in your home dir: cd tar -xjf qt-dotwine.tar.bz2 4. Note 2: wine/quicktime DLLs fork several processes/threads, they somehow don't die at exit and keep eating your memory in the background, so it's recommended to 'killall wine' after running mplayer this way... Note 3: yes we all know this is messy hack, and we're working on a cleaner solution, using the minimalist loader included in mplayer instead of all the bloat coming with libwine. Note 4: due to --disable-win32, you cannot use vfw/acm/dshow and quicktime DLLs at the same time. "XineramaIsActive" solution

I've received the XineramaIsActive error when attemping to install Mplayer 0.90pre10 by rpm packages in my Red Hat 8.0 based on duron 700 processor (I've got Nvidia TNT2 video card as well). I solved the problem in the next way: I've uninstalled the rpm pakages then I've installed the last version ofo libSDL.so (www.libsdl.org) after that I downloaded the Mplayer tar.bz2 and installed with the next options: ./configure --enable-gui --disable-runtime-cpudetection --disable-xinerama Hope this could be useful to anyone
