display: shifted output problem

Hi! After installing a Toslink-adapter in my Siemens-V1.3-DVB card my audio problems (ac3 pass throu) are gone. But there is still one display problem: The picture on my 16:9 tv-screen is a little bit shifted to the left (1/6 of the screen width). My mplayer command uses the folllowing parameter: -cache 8192 -vo mpegpes -ao mpegpes -vop lavc,expand=-1:576:-1:-1:1,scale=-1:0,dvbscale question: how to adjust the tv-output a little bit to the right. Playing a little bit with the dvbscale parameter had no success. BTW: vdr has no such problem. using mplayer to view a .dat file over DVB

I want to view a bad copy of a vcd in that the vcd contents was copied in a directory not in the root of cd . Also it is a full iso9660 cd . So VDR does not recognize it as a videocd. I want to use the mplayer to fulfill this task. Since the source compiling gave me some errors, i've installed the rpms on my redhat 7.3 machine! the very interesting part is the message that mplayer gave me: # mplayer -vo mpegpes avseq01.dat ............. AVI->DV (IEEE1394)

Hi! I'm sort of a newbee on this. I have been using mplayer to play my avi:s and videos. But know I've got myself a DV-camera. I compiled in the IEEE1394 (firewire) in the kernel and got things to work with dvgrab to transfere my videos to avi-files. I also installed kino to handle the editing of the files. One thing that I do have problem with is the ability to send back the avi:s to the camera. It works with kino but I think it would be very handy to use mplayer straigh away for that. Also I really like mplayer so I would rather use that instead of kino. Do anyone here have experience or could you just give me some hints where to look about this? MPEG-PES in error?

Hi, I'm using current CVS mplayer and i'm willing to use mplayer to playback divx using my DVB-s card. My box is to slow to handle this in realtime (even when downscaled) so what i wanted to do is have mplayer write it's grab.mpg file by using --disable-dvb and then, when finished, playback the mpeg file. This way i should still be able to use subtitles etc... I did a test using a sample avi file, and it created the file grab.mpg as expected. Now when i want to playback that file i get some audio at the very first beginning (weird audio tho, like it's the original audio played at faster speed and with some computerized nooise, hard to describe) after which the audio suddenly stops. The video image seems to be very well. Looks like there's a bug in this code somewhere? is this a known problem? (maybe there's a bug in mplayer's mpeg-pes code?) Anyone got any idea's what could be done about this ? Besides my above question i would like to ask if someone know or have code that can output mpeg2 instead of mpeg1. (non-realtime that is) Or can somebody point me to some good docs on how to implement such an output 'plugin' (-vo) for mplayer. (This would allow mplayer to convert divx in mpeg2 with subtitles and be able to play them with vdr or whatever, create svcds.... ) With kind regards, Andy Knuts

Hi, today i like to announce a new version of my vdr2divx scripts. Okay, this release i have added some new features that's why i decided to make another version jump to 1.6.0 ! You might also notice that i haven't called it beta, but pre1 instead, which i find more suitable. The new features concentrate on further automation of the conversion process for tv series, which i record a lot - if you only record movies, i think you won't have any advantage of these: + Subdirectory support for converted series + automatic renaming of episodes with external plugins + destination directories are finally created if needed (was requested long ago) + i have completely rewritten the name finding process - which you hopefully won't notice :-) I think i have to explain the first 2 enhancements a little further since there is no docs yet: Subdirectories for the converted files are supported depending on the series name (not the episode name). To achieve this i introduce another config file named 2divx.conf.dirnames, which contains the series names and the Destination directory name. Run setup to create an example file - For details read comments in 2divx.conf.dirnames itself. The automatic renaming of episodes does the following: It tries to look up the episode number in a list, you provide, and renames the file to contain this number ! For example, you record a episode of Star Trek named "Das letzte seiner Art", then 2divx can look up the episode number (1x01) in a text file you provide and automatically rename the destination to "1x01_Das_letzte_seiner_Art.avi" or "StarTrek1x01_Das_letzte_seiner_Art.avi" ... This is achieved with an external plugin you might notice in the plugin directory ! The one i have written plugins/episname.sh is just an example and far away from being perfect - feel free to write your own ! See 2divx.conf.epsnames how the plugins are invoked depending on the series name - you can use several parameters for your own plugin here - the last one is always the episode name as it comes from EPG (VDR). With these two enhancements it's rather easy to record series and automatically have them sorted into subdirs with accurate naming ! I hope you like these enhancements, too - if not, simply don't use them :-) Any suggestions/feedback greatly appreciated Martin
