Mpeg-1 file with NTSC resolution

Hi ! I have a very bad burned vcd here. I can't open it with mplayer -vcd 1, so I guessed, the one who burned it was just to dumb to do it right. However my guess was right and accessing the file from mounted cd is no problem. On screen playin works very well, so I tried to play it over DVB: mplayer /mnt/cdrom/MPEGAV/AVSEQ01.DAT -vo mpegpes -ao mpegpes This results in the fact that the picture is in grayscale, so I think it tries to play in ntsc. Scaling it with -vop scale=352:288 results in color on TV but also in choppy playback. Now I've read a lot of docs, but haven't found the right switch for me. My question: Is there a way of forcing PAL output in a nice way ? This dvb-output stuff will once burn my brain .... Hope someone can enlighten me Thanks in Advance Steffen

bug on DVB subtitling ?

After some days of testing I must declare that I am think that there is a bug in the subtitles inserting on DVB Card. The problem can be seen even on a system without DVB. 1. Affected versions : Mplayer-0.90 pre 8 (sources and rpm) Mplayer-0.90 pre 9 (sources) Mplayer-20021030 (sources) as far as I tested ;-) 2. Compiled with: gcc-2.96-110 from RedHat 7.3 (ough!) gcc-3.2 from Mandrake 9.0 3. Mpeg Encoders used: libavcodec fame ( indeed poor performance against libavcodec ) In all this cases the problem can be seen even on a non DVB system by mplayer -vo mpegpes -vop [lavc][ fame], expand= 720:576:-1:-1:1 [-subpos 82] [-sub {Microdvd style subtitles file}] {avi file} after that, replaying the grab.mpg generated file using: mplayer grab.mpg The problem is shown even in the case of replaying on monitor ( as in the previous command) or through DVB card on TV and consist in the fact that subtitles are not erased from the screen on the moment specified in the subtitle file and the next lines are written over the old ones that are just flickering . This makes the subtitles very hard to read. The problem appears on the TV even on the online transcoding or in the off-line transcoding using a buffer file. Paul

Trying to use fame

Since I think that my subtitles problems came from libavcodec I want to try to use fame as mpeg1 encoder. What can I do to compile mplayer with fame support. I've done: - Downloaded libfame 0.90 - Created libfame directory in Mplayer source directory ( as configure looks for) - In the libfame directory ( not in that from MPlayer but the original directory) launched configure to createthe makefile-s - Copied the content of src directory from original libfame directory to the libfame created in Mplayer (so configure can find there the fame.h ) After that I launched configure for mplayer, it detected fame ok but compiling stops with : make [1] Entering directory ................................./libfame make [1] *** No rule to make target '../configure.in' needed by Makefile.in Stop Where am I wrong? Sending output to a stream

Since I can do -vo mpegpes:file can I send the mpeg1 output to a rtp stream ? I want to do the transcoding on a machine and display on other machine that has the DVB board but hasn't enough CPU power? In the docs is only written " mpegpes: device " but I don't know what device can use ? Paul

OSD over DVB problem

Are there some problems with the OSD over DVB card? On the same command line if I use -vo dga I have subtitles and OSD on monitor but if i use -vo mpegpes no OSD nor subtitles on tv screen. I am using mplayer 0.90 pre 9 compiled from sources. Paul

First, sorry for not directly replying but i just subscribed to the list and so i don't have a mail to reply to. In addition to Marcus' fix for NEWSTRUCT you'll have to add some more for HEAD driver because of struct renaming. (No diff available because there are only 2 fixes) in ao_mpegpes.c: audioMixer_t dvb_mixer={255,255}; has to be audio_mixer_t dvb_mixer={255,255}; in vo_mpegpes.c: add #define boolean int #define true 1 #define false 0 because it is removed from audio.h hope it works for you too. mpegpes-dvb and HEAD-DVB-driver

Hi ! I'm using the HEAD drivers and saw that mplayer looks in the old dirs for the headers of the driver and devices. So is there a patch to use Mplayer with HEAD-drivers ? What have i to change to get it working ? Some ressources to read ? Thanks in Advance Steffen

low processor power for divx view

If I do not have a powerfull enough processor to make the transcoding a divx file to dvb is there a possibility to make the process in two steps ? So make the transcoding offline and afterthes view the MPEG3 file over dvb card , maybe using vdr ? Paul

VDR Mplayer Fast forward

Hi. I use VDR with Mplayer support. When I play a file from Command-Line I am able to fast-forward or rewind. However from the OSD of VDR I cannot fast forward or rewind. Only the blue Button abort the playback. I don´t use LIRC only a Keyboard. What is wrong? Please help. Best regards Mark Wehner
