Hello, Is there a difference in terms of interlacing between a talk show an a movie. Both need to disable interlacing if one keeps full resolution ? I maybe not clear. If I mencode a talk show, news ... ie studio broadcasting or programs made for TV especially, I remark that the quality is better with -vf pp=lb. Is that the same with a movie ? what is better pp=lb or pp=DEINT_TYPE ? do this filter work with -voc copy ? Any idea is welcomme ... Thanks. Hello, I installed mplayer 1.0pre2 with enable-dvb but dont understand what Checking for DVB ... no (specify path to DVB/ost/include with --with-dvbincdir=DIR) Checking for DVB HEAD ... no (specify path to DVB/include (HEAD Version) with --with-dvbincdir=DIR) are for ? anyway mpalyer dvb:// doesn't work but mplayer --dvb /dev/.../dvr0 does. I ahve the channels.conf in ~/.mplayer. Why ? I tried to mencode the stream from /dev/dvb/adaptator0/dvr0 with mencode -o file.mpg -of mpeg -ovc copy -oac copy --dvb /dev/.../dvr0 it works but I have no sound. Why ? without -of mpeg, sound is here but mplayer krash after 2 seconds. Why ? I tryed to encode during 10 sec, with frames 250, it doesn't work. mencode doesn't stop after 10 sec. Why ? Basicaly, I want to copy video stream from dvb with the best quality (mpeg2), and to encode it in a second time, 3 pass dvd methode. How should I do ? How to select a specific language and specific subtitles in a multi-language and multi-subtitle stream (canal+ or canal satellite for example) ? I tryed the doc tv and dvb specific sections but I don't find, or don't understand the way to do that. If it's written somme where, please tell me, otherwise could someone help me ? Thanks a lot. framerate conversion using framestep filter

Hi list, the appended patch against the current cvs enhances the framestep filter to not only drop every nth frame, but to be able to set a "keep"-ratio, a fraction, how many frames should (not) be droped. With this enhancement, it is possible to do easy framerate conversion (only dowmwards) by specifying a fraction of new and original framerate. For example to convert NTSC material to PAL framerate, use: ... -vf framestep=2500:2997 ... I have to use this for outputing NTSC material to my DVB-card. My card of course also could decode NTSC material, by my TV set is unable to present it in color (a really loosy one! :-( ). As I did not find a way to use any other filter (mencoder's -ofps option is not usable when preseting with mplayer), I patched the one, which already had most of the stuff. I only _added_ a new feature. I hope I did not overlook any case, so no old features should be broken. The implementation uses int64_t-based rationals to have highest precision. Although a int32_t-based implementation would have been enough for easy cases like 3/4 or 15/16, the above example of conversion from 29.97 to 25.0 requires 64Bit-precision to avoid computational overflows. Using the rational-implementation, you get the most even drop distribution. I hope this patch can make it in future versions of mplayer. Hi, this patch should make mplayer compatible with the (silly, IMHO) P.M. specified in the Linuxtv Api, so it doesn't close the frontend during playback; consequently you don't need anymore dvb_shutdown_timeout=0 as parameter to dvb-core. In addition I made the code respect the modulation and inversion specified in the channel.conf file, rather than hardcoding them to default values (affects only -T and -C users). Please, test this patch extensively after having removed dvb_shutdown_timeout=0, and report both success and failure; if all works well I will post the patch to -dev-eng. Hi, i am testing with a small piece of divx coded recording (1 min). I am wondering about the size of the dumped mpeg-pes. I had recorded this piece from my dvb-card with vdr and converted to divx with mencoder. I could play the divx-file on my desktop with no problems. But if i play this video on the dvb-output without lavc=9000 i got stuttering video and audio. So i dumped the stream to a file (mplayer -vo mpegpes:testfile.mpg) and look what i get. Unfortuanally i can't check the dumped file with Projekt-X(ds.jar). X805 crashes at loading time..... Any helps about the format of testfile.mpg??? And now: the size of the testfile,mpg suggested a bitrate of 18400kBits/s, dumped again with lavc=9000 i got a file related to a bitrate of 8700kBits. >From where comes the high bitrate ? My Input (at vdr time) has only ~ 3500kBits/sec. Because i want to archieve my recording i will check if the divx generation is ok and can played back without problems. Any Ideas ? Regards, Alfredo

Hi! I'm trying to play a stream from a Swedish radiostation using mplayer, but I can't get it working ;-) Imm trying the following command; mplayer -cache 16 -ao mpegpes mms://sr-wm.qbrick.com/02038_p3star-wm-High But mplayer exits and the following are a part of the log written to the screen; -<SNIP>- StreamCount r=0x0 1 1 AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, 16 bit (0x10), ratio: 12003->176400 (96.0 kbit) Selected audio codec: [wmadmo] afm:dmo (Windows Media Audio DMO) ========================================================================== Checking audio filter chain for 44100Hz/2ch/16bit -> 44100Hz/2ch/16bit... Is there anything simple I've missed maybe? If I try to use -au null instead it looks ok on the screen, mplayer are playing something but I can't ofcourse not hear it. So I managed to compile mplayer with dvb with 2.6 kernel. Starting mplayer with mplayer dvb://"ZDF" -vo xv -ao arts -vc ffmpeg2 it shows video and gives sound, but only for a few seconds and then shuts down with errors. Full output at the end. But using szap and then mplayer with mplayer -vo xv -ao arts -vc ffmpeg2 - </dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 it works without problems! So I guess something in the dvb routine in mplayer in not OK.
