I believe this FAQ entry is completely outdated. Are there any systems without inttypes.h left?
I don't know what the meaning of the inttypes.h exactly is, but you might be interestet in the following:
./configure Detected operating system: SunOS Detected host architecture: sparc Checking for cc version ... Ein C-Compiler kann mit dem Kommando /opt/rbi/gnu/bin/gcc oder mit /opt/rbi/devpro/SUNWspro/bin/cc aufgerufen werden.
Im Verzeichnis /opt/rbi/devpro/SUNWspro/bin sind auch weitere Compiler wie f77, f90, pc., bad Checking for gcc version ... 2.95.2, ok Checking for mplayer binary name ... mplayer Checking for extra headers ... none Checking for extra libs ... none Checking for i18n ... no Checking for setlocale() ... no Checking for iconv ... no Checking for langinfo ... no Checking for language ... using en (man pages: en) Checking for enable sighandler ... yes Checking for runtime cpudetection ... no Checking for restrict keyword ... none Checking for kstat ... no Checking for posix4 ... no Checking for lrintf ... no Checking for nanosleep ... no Checking for socklib ... no Checking for inet_pton() ... no (=> i'll try inet_aton next) Checking for inet_aton() ... no (=> network support disabled) Checking for inttypes.h (required) ... no Checking for bitypes.h (inttypes.h predecessor) ... Error: Cannot find header either inttypes.h or bitypes.h (see DOCS/HTML/en/faq.html).
Check "configure.log" if you do not understand why it failed.
uname -ar SunOS kojak 5.8 Generic_108528-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10
What a coincidence that we were talking about Sun computers last time we both met.. ;) Sebastian PS: didn't try from cvs yet. this configure was from the latest (pre5?)-tarball
