Under the CVS system, the comparable information went in the From:, as the alleged name of the sender. I'd personally prefer to use something comparable under SVN, but whatever changes would be necessary to set that up (which I *think* I understand to have been determined to be reasonably possible) have not yet been made.
I offered to hack the Perl script to do anything asked, but Diego switched to a different Python script... - ods15
