tool to test cropping
I was recently reading a thread with the same subject on mplayer-user and thought that what Robert R. Wal and Arpi said was a good idea. So here it is, a plugin that will draw the cropping rectangle. So I request permission to add file libmpcodecs/vf_rectangle.c. See the attached patch and file. Kim Minh.

It would be great to be able to change the rectangle in real time, while the movie is playing. Bye.

Sure, but I don't know how to do this easily and cleanly. Kim Minh.

hmm. should be done by adding a new control() call, and input event handler forwarding these key events (or even better: the coords) to this filter by vf->control() A'rpi / Astral & ESP-team -- Developer of MPlayer, the Movie Player for Linux - http://www.MPlayerHQ.hu

Btw. Arpi are you interested in fixing ac3 muxing so it is compatible with windooze players? I saw that eg. for windooze avimux tool, they recommend 128ms preload and interleave interval (or 160), probably worth experimenting. In Nandub I usually used the default of 500ms preload and 1frame interleaving, which also worked, but dunno if nandub really uses this values when muxing... I could supply you with samples of the same source muxed once by mencoder and once by windows tools, if that helps. Maybe you could make preload and interleaving interval of mencoder configurable on commandline, then I could do some experimenting.

OK, I'm getting there, it works... But I have a problem with control()'s interface: it is declared as variable arguments in vf.h, and it looks like it is supposed to call the fallback vf_next_control. But of course this is not really possible with variable arguments... I think I am missing part of the picture. Kim Minh.
