I have the same problem with up to date mplayer and mga_vid. The video plays but is incredibly slow. -vo xv or -vo x11 work fine. Here is part of the output, I will gladly provide a full bugreport if necessary. there should be line like this: "mga_vid: incompatible version! driver: %X requested: %X\n" in dmesg, could you provide it? also result of cat /dev/mga_vid would be nice.
